Lazy Afternoon
By Jeanne Armonk
A peaceful calm envelops the backyard,
The sun is exerting itself very hard.
The cumulus clouds roll slowly above,
Not a bird insight, not even a dove.
The breeze in the trees sounds like the ocean,
Outdoor fountains keep water in motion.
Dragonflies hover over the bubbles,
Buzzing around without cares or troubles.
How serene it can be here in the yard,
With time to reflect and let down one's guard.
The cares of the day do not exist here,
On this lazy afternoon oh so dear.
